Jazz is a fun, high-energy dance form that develops technique & rhythm, while building muscle strength, flexibility & coordination. Jazz technique focuses on clean lines, turns, jumps & sharp movements.  Jazz is an integrative study, as it encompasses  a  variety of all dance steps & styles.  Your dancer will have opportunities to improvise, create, and perform solo combinations, all while having fun with friends and making new ones!

Young Ballet Class

Ballerinas learn and build upon basic introduction to classical positions, ballet steps & simple choreography. Our class includes fun exercises while enhancing coordination & self- awareness, along with rhythmic & motor skills. Your child will experience story-telling with movement, free dance & explore creativity.

Tap Dance Class

Ballet & Tap

Tuesdays from 3.30pm-4.20pm, September-December (January 16th)

Open to 1st-4th Grade
 

Ballerinas learn postures, steps, and choreography of traditional ballet. Tap exercises focus on clarity of sound, rhythm, timing, and overall musicality. Ballet and tap exercises & routines emphasize vocabulary & dance etiquette. Students participate in prayer & worshipful dance, as they learn about themselves as children of God.

Young Dance Students

Creative Movement & Story Telling 

at SPCA

Wednesdays from 2.30pm-3.20pm, January-Mat (Beginning January 17th)

Open to JK & K
 

This is a story-based class, and students explore new concepts in exciting and creative ways, including weekly games, costume pieces, and props.  Our curriculum sets the most beloved fairy tales to music and dance. Students are encouraged to use their imaginations, as they become a part of the stories.

Christian Dance

Wednesdays from 3.30-4.20pm, January-May (Beginning January 17th)

Open to 1st-4th grade students
 

In this class, students will explore lots of different dance styles, paired with favorite Christian music selections!  Choreography includes elements of jazz, ballet, and modern, along with a strong emphasis on the emotional connection to music. Music and choreography are chosen and sewn together for worship, and students learn the importance of ministering through their unique and God-given art form.

Dance Class

Music, Dance & Drama

at SPCA

Thursdays from 3.30-4.45pm, January-May (Beginning January 18th)

Open to 1st-4th grade students
 

In this class, we will practice the triple threat— singing, acting, and dancing to both musical theatre and popular songs. Students are provided with the weekly selection ahead of time, to listen to and practice as part of their preparedness. Class time is divided between developing and practicing vocal, theatrical, and dance technique.  This class is longer (75 minutes) than our typical classes, due to the number of disciplines covered.

Tap

Fridays from 2.30pm-3.20pm, January-May (Beginning January 19th)

Open to JK & K
 

Dancers learn how to dance while creating music with their feet!  Class curriculum develops musicality, rhythm, and timing. Students learn traditional tap vocabulary. Class time focuses on technique, and choreography includes a variety of tap steps and sequencing.

Hip Hop

at SPCA

Fridays from 3.30pm-4.20pm, January-May (Beginning January 19th)

Open to 1st-4th Grade

Hip Hop is a high-energy dance styles with a liveliness unlike other traditional dance forms. Dancers learn fundamental and beginner technical elements, while learning modern styles of dance, all in age-appropriate ways.  Due to the second semester schedule, we will meet eleven weeks.

Young Ballerinas

Princess Pre-Ballet 

at SPCA

Saturdays from 9-9:45am, February-May (February 3-May 4. 10 weeks. No classes 2/17, 3/9, 3/16, and 3/30)

Open to current and incoming JK & K girls
 

This curriculum was designed to teach introductory ballet through princess stories and activities using music, dolls, lovies, instruments, and more!  During these magical classes, dancers learn fundamentals through imitation and age-appropriate ballet vocabulary, all set in a sweet, warm, and loving environment.  The Fruit of the Spirit, "kindness," is an integral class theme and will be discussed each week.  Your princess will love meeting and dancing with friends, all while engaging her imagination.

Boys Running

Lil' Heroes

Saturdays from 10-10:45am, February-May (February 3-May 4. 10 weeks. No classes 2/17, 3/9, 3/16, and 3/30)

Open to current and incoming JK & K boys

​

Class curriculum is designed specifically with boys in mind. Class activities include running, jumping, moving, and dancing, all while having fun, being creative, and developing social skills. Engaging stories are woven into class, and fun activities expand students' imaginations.
