Thursdays, 3.20-4.35pm (75 minutes)
Primer Violin Class is open to any Kindergarten through 3rd grade student who would like to learn to play the violin. This class will be rooted in traditional and classical methods and mixed together with lots of fun games. Violin students learn the basics of posture, bow-hold technique, and tone production. Students will work together on foundational skills. Students will learn how to read basic formal music notation, all while learning how to play the violin! Class focus will include intonation and age-appropriate sight-reading, and the development of rhythmic independence, phrasing, and overall musicality through movement, singing, and playing. Students will gain valuable experiences exploring and playing music with others. Primer Violin Class will showcase a short performance for family and friends at the end of the semester.
